Halloween Count Down

I got the mantel done. Woohoo! I'm still not done with the inside, which is really sad since Halloween is just around the corner. Why do I get this funny feeling I'm running a little behind. I started the last two weekends of September and I'm still not done. It is procrastination at its worst or best, I guess it depends on how you look at it. Our front yard isn't even done, how scary is that. At this rate we will probably leave our Halloween decorations up until Thanksgiving.

Ghoulish Bouquet

Well, Halloween is creeping up and I must say I am not as organized as much as I was last year. I started the end of September and the inside still isn't done. I'm putting all my efforts into this weekend to get it done and maybe start on the outside. Yes, I know the McClymonds's house should already have been decked out in full Halloween by now. I think it is all the worries with the economy and the election that have just put a damper on the excitement of Halloween. Even our neighbors, who usually do some decorating, haven't even touched their yards. I guess this has hit everyone in one way or another. So, I guess I better get started.

Mommy Dearest

NO MORE WIRE HANGERS!!!!!! Okay, so it didn't turn out that bad. She did say she was experiencing post partum depression on the last night. lol I couldn't help but laugh as she was telling me this as her eyes welled up with tears. She giggled too but I think it was a pretty stressful weekend for her. She is taking an early childhood class this semester and she was able to participate in experiencing motherhood for a weekend. She brought home her electronic son, Landon. He came with a carrier, diaper bag, and a bracelet that she had to scan each time he needed to be fed, burped, rocked or changed. Every time he would cry she had to run and scan her bracelet and then begin changing, feeding or burping until he calmed down and slept. There were times when he was crying every ten minutes. He would go into sleep mode but for just a few hours but when he was up, he was up. The first night her friend Chrisi-Jo spent the night and she had a baby as well. I got up at 2 am and walked by the door and could hear one of the babies crying. It seems Christi Jo's baby cried off and on from 1am to 4am. Then Landon decided to keep them up from 5am-10 am. I was wondering why I had to sign a release stating I would not let my daughter drive if she was extremely tired. She made it but it was tough. I had my doubts but she pulled through like a trooper and actually got the highest grade in the class. All in all it turned out to be a great experience for her. Instead of wanting to be a young mom at 22 she has decided to wait another 20 years before she enters into motherhood. I sure hope she sticks to that plan.

KISS Is In The House

Halloween is just around the corner and I found another Halloween picture. This pic was taken during the First National Bank of Alaska's annual Halloween party of 1996. I had just moved to Anchorage that June. In this picture is Laureni-Joe, Messy, Linney and me. The two in the middle are my nieces. Messy and I were both working for the bank and we were able to talk Lindsay and Lauren in joining us for some fun. We won the title of best dressed group. The bank hadn't planned on having that category but once they saw us walk in they changed the rules. We didn't win anything but we won the title that is all we needed. Oh, the memories.

This Is How I Feel Since I've Been Back

Here is a pic that I took at the Anchorage Zoo. This is about how I've been feeling for the last couple of days since I've been back.

Searching for Gold in Alaska 1998

I just love these pics of my two kids when they were in their younger years. This was taken at Crow's Creek mine right outside of Anchorage near Girdwood. La Princesa looks to be about 6 so that will probably make Opposite Boy around 12. I swiped these photos from Mama Mia's house. I'm not sure who the photographer was for these pics. I would have to say it was either Tara or me. I just love them.

Bike Ride Down Haleakala 2005

I went hiking today with one of my friends and it brought back memories of Hunky J and I biking down Haleakala in 2005. In Maui, they offer a bike tour where you leave at 2:30 am and take a bus for several hours up to the top of Haleakala National Park. Once you get there you go and watch the sunrise and walk around and see the craters. Once they are done showing you the sights of the National Park then you take a bike tour down a long and winding road. It is very steep and you go really fast. They tell you to keep your eyes on the road at all times and to watch the biker ahead of you. Anyways, that is the tour part of the story. The funny part of the story is that Hunky J and I had fallen asleep early the night before b/c of too many mai tai's. I woke up about 9, ordered some food. I then realized that I didn't have tennis shoes or any closed toe shoes for this tour. Yikes! I woke up Hunky J and we left right away to try and find swim shoes, any kind of tennis shoes, whatever, as long as they were closed toe. Well, luck was not on my side or I should say the Hunky J's side. My wonderful husband sacrificed his tennis shoes, which made me look like a clown, so I could go on the tour. He wore his black patent leather dress shoes. I felt so bad. So, here we are in warm-ups, me wearing men's tennis shoes a couple sizes too big and Hunky J's in black dress shoes getting ready to go on this bike ride. When we stopped at the top the driver asked if anybody needed anything. I then found my opportunity to ask if they had any extra closed toe shoes so I could give the Hunky J back his tennis shoes. Okay. It was that statement which led to embarrassing moment #1. When I did that it brought attention to the Hunky J’s nice and shiny black leather dress shoes. Of course, they didn't have a spare so he had to bike down in dress shoes with everyone else now knowing his situation thanks to my big mouth. When we were almost done with the tour, we stopped for breakfast. Once we were done Hunky J went to the van to change his dress shoes for his flip flops. I thought that was kind of dangerous, which brought up, you guessed it, embarrassing moment #2. Once again, I brought attention to the Hunky J’s shoe situation. The guides were standing right beside me, when I was letting my husband know the danger of wearing flip flops on the bike tour. Oh boy, if looks could kill, I would have been dead. The guides didn't say anything b/c they were either: a.)Scared to bring it up, or b.)They felt sorry for him. There wasn't much left of the tour anyways so I guess they let it slide. We ended up having a great time despite the shoe incident but it is a memory that neither one of us will ever forget.

Cinco de Mayo has come and gone.

Well, Cinco de Mayo has come and gone. There was No McFiesta Party this year. I'm not sure if I'm sad or relieved. Last year was definitely a fun time. Just takes a lot of work getting the house together and the food done. Oh, and I can't forget my sheila-rita's. My special recipe for margaritas that go down smooth but if your not careful will hit you like a ton of bricks. In other words, Drink with Caution. Here is a group pic of the whole gang. Well, not everyone made it in the picture but you can kind of get the idea of the fun we're having by the look on our faces.
